I do not about you, but for me finding the perfect gift it is related to how much you know a person, the type of relationship you have (personal or business related) and above all, how much you care about the person. Once you have found that perfect gift it is all about that special presentation.
Are you a wrapping the gift and have a beautiful bow kind of person or just the finding a cute bag kind of person? I am not judging either one! Believe me, I have found that the beautiful bags are not only cute, but also, faster to get the present all ready in a blink of an eye. However, if you ask me, wrapping a gift adds a special touch and increases the excitement of the element of surprise which I am all about to.
Not everyone has mastered the art of wrapping gifts, but at the end of the day, when you do it yourself, that extra dedication is what really matters.
Once you know how to wrap a gift—for any occasion, whether it is a birthday, Valentine's day, Christmas or simply because you want to surprise that special person in your life, you will be accomplished once it is done. Remember, practice makes perfect; the more you do it, the more you will master this art.
In order to help you, I have added some quick and simple instructions on how to wrap a gift. Follow these steps and you will have a beautiful presentation to add excitement to surprise, all you will need is wrapping paper for the applicable occasion (these days there are tons of different ones), scissors and tape.
Gather gift-wrapping materials. Assemble your present, the wrapping paper, scissors, and tape, and then clear a large, flat surface, such as a kitchen table.
Secure fragile items within boxes. Make sure that anything fragile within your box is wrapped securely and will not move around or become damaged. I recommend using tissue paper as padding and use a small piece of tape to keep the box closed.
Measure and cut the right amount of wrapping paper for your box or gift. Roll out your wrapping paper, but do not cut it yet. Place the box or gift in the center of the unfurled paper, upside down, so the seams of the paper will end up on the bottom of the package.
Bring the paper up one side and over the top of the box, all the way to the opposite edge. Estimate how much additional wrapping paper you will need to cover the side of the box that is not yet covered, then cut the paper. (My secret to know how much more wrapping paper is needed... add the same quantity that you estimated first.) Strive for long, even cuts; if your edge is jagged, fold it under for a smooth seam.
Secure the paper to the box with tape. Center the box on the paper. Bring one side of the paper up the side and halfway across the top, affixing it to the box with a piece of tape. (With some practice, you may be able to skip adding tape to secure it.)
Fold the other side for a cleaner edge. Prior to pull the second side of paper up and over the first, create a clean seam by folding over the last half-inch or so of the paper, using your fingers to create a tight crease. Now bring this side up so it just overlaps the first one and affix with tape. (Another secret... Double-sided tape can be used for a cleaner look. If you do not have double-sided tape, then you can create it by folding the tape like a cylinder.)
Fold the paper on each side of the present. Starting on one end, fold down the top flap onto the side of the box, creating two little wings at the side. Flatten those in against the box, then fold the remaining triangle of paper up against the box. Fasten it in place with tape.
Stand the box up and repeat folding to the other side. Set your box on end, with the side you just worked on facing down, and repeat step 7 on the opposite end.
Add finishing touches. Add any ribbon, gift tags, or decorative bows to your gift. Woohoo!! You’ve just wrapped a present perfectly.
